The Governor’s Cup 2012 – the most important tournament of the fall has finished!

The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport of the Rostov region and Regional Public Organization “The Golf Federation of the Rostov region” came out as providers of the Tournament powered by Golf & Country Club “Don”.

More than 40 golfers arrived to Don Golf club from Moscow, Sochi, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don and Rostov region in order to struggle for the reward. It was the first time when the representative from the United States took part in the Tournament, that allows us to say about international status of the present Tournament.

The opening of the Tournament took place as a solemn ceremony, that was held in Golf &Country Club “Don” on the 7th September.

The first Round of the Draw took place on 8th of September and the final day 9th September became a real occasion not only for the sportsmen, but also for the guests of the Club.

The challenging golf-entertainments, spectacular master-classes by golf-professionals of the club – Gavin Kampbell and Chris Snape, free trainings during all day and amateur tournaments were in the guests’ disposal. The kids playground also took place for the youngest guests and there were visitable shows on the stage.

The Governor of the Rostov region Vasiliy Golubev arrived to Golf & Country Club “Don” and took part in the tour around the Champion course by golf-cars and also communicated with the educatees of the Don Golf Federation Children’s Sport School. His head intention though was honouring the winners of the tournament. At the time of the winners awarding ceremony the Governor confessed that the great impact for the tournament organization was the children’s desire to take up that gallant and effective sport.

“What impressed me the most and made me make that decision was the meeting with the young sportsmen last year. There were lots of them at this place, their eyes were glowing, they were inspired for the game. The juniors’ parents have addressed me today with a request to organize a golf branch based on Rostov Children and Junior Sport School №8. We’ve acceded to that proposal and we’ll actualize that” – the Governor made promise.

In the matter of the Open Series winners and awardees Victoria Kravchenko has got to be the best among women, Olga Kluchnikova has borne away silver prize and Tatiyana Martyinova took the third place of honor. On the basic women pass without handicap regard Olga Kluchnikova who was marked on an additional pass took the third place, the Don Children Golf School FGRR educatee Daria Ezhkova came in the second, and the experienced female athlete Victoria Halina has got the Governor’s Cup winner.

On the additional men pass Sergey Tkach who is the winner of the Rostov region Open Golf Championship 2012, came in the third. Alexey Brinev got the silver prize and the young sportsman Levon Arutyunyan won the Cup. On the basic pass Andrey Halin got the bronze prize and Sergey Gaiduk gained a victory, having proved to be the most athletic sportsman yet again, while Sergey Tkach got the silver prize.

Sportsmen an sportswomen who took the first three places following the results of the tournament (6 golfers in all) will make a start to vindicate honor of Golf &Country Club “Don” to the Cup of Russia this year.
